How We Worship
and what to expect.
Sunday evening: Eucharist (Communion, Mass, Lord's Supper, …)
The service begins at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran. Doors are open and tea and snacks set out at 4 p.m. for those who would like to come in and relax or chat with other worshippers before the service. The service itself looks a lot like a Catholic or Lutheran liturgy, consisting of some prayers, songs, a reading from the Bible and short discussion (in place of a sermon), and Eucharist. Eucharist, sometimes called Communion or the Lord's Supper, is open to everyone, whether you are a visitor or a regular, Episcopalian or not. The service ends about 5:30 p.m. and anyone who is able is invited to stay for a free, vegetarian dinner. This service is popular with undergrads, as well as some older students and staff.
Wednesday: Noonday Prayer
Come to the Green House at 12 p.m. to join in singing Noonday Prayer, in the ancient monastic tradition of the Hours. It is a short service, about 15 minutes, attended mostly by U of M staff, with a smattering of students. A free, vegetarian lunch is served after the service.
